This book really opened my eyes to how Liberalism as a philosophy - which encompasses the entire political spectrum in the US, even conservative liberalism aka "classical" liberalism, per Charles Koch - was a twin birth with settler-colonialism, and all of its attendant horrors, which are still required to fuel the US Empire today. It forces you to ask hard questions about the system - one I myself used to accept as "the best humanity can do." This is an academic level work and is, as with all of Losurdo's works, very well sourced. It may be difficult to even consider reading if you still consider Liberalism a viable philosophy that does the greatest good in the world, but you should read it no matter what, because you deserve to investigate the basis of your beliefs, to see if they stand up to the scrutiny of history and the material conditions that the system you believe in produces.
